Fact for Thought – Despite Gun Homicides, 2nd Amendment Saves Lives by Deterring Rise of a Dictator

The exercise of all-important rights and freedoms entail a certain number of dead people, where the deaths are caused by the exercise of the rights or freedoms. For example, the 1^st Amendment allows poisonous procommunist speech by professors and other radicals. In some cases, communist adherence went on to kill millions of people on the basis of a truly corrupt and misplaced ideology. Broad liberty rights allow people to race sports cars, jump obstacles on motorcycles, roar down mountain slops on snow boards or skis, climb dangerous mountains, and disdain helmet use. Some of those persons die: they die from the exercise of liberty – an acceptable way to go.

One way to view the 2^nd Amendment is to say that a certain number of gun homicides and other gun deaths is inevitable to foster and allow an armed citizenry. Importantly, however, the existence of an armed citizenry resists and opposes the rise of a dictator like Hitler, Stalin, or Mao. We thus tolerate some shooting deaths to avoid the slaughter of millions by a maniacal dictator.

Asinine comments have been made by light weights, such as Obama, who spoke of rights to “target shoot,” and Biden who spoke of banning automatic rifles since, “deer do not wear Kevlar.” The true purpose of the 2^nd Amendment is to deter communists in Kevlar vests. Citizens retain what Jefferson called “the right to refresh the tree of liberty with newly spilled blood in the event of an attempted dictatorship in the US.” The citizens could justly begin to eliminate traitorous government officials. Indeed, an armed American citizenry could probably eliminate over one thousand traitorous politicians, government employees and corrupt business leaders a week. The point would be quickly made, and F 35s or nuclear weapons would have no bearing on the outcome, again as Biden stupidly suggests. A strong air force would not save a corrupt billionaire from a rifle shot fired from a nearby wood. Obama, Biden, Schumer, Sanders and Schiff, none of whom served in the military, and none of whom knows anything of the tactics of armed resistance (as opposed to the tactics of stealing votes) simply do not understand the true function of the 2^nd Amendment – again, to deter tyrants. Of course, I hasten to add that I am not advocating armed rebellion or violence of any kind. Personally, I hope we never again have a civil war. I am simply explaining the true purpose of the 2^nd Amendment to the citizens of the US and especially to liberals who are deliberately misstating and undermining that purpose.
