Fact for Thought: “Hey Big Spenders!”

Concern over US mounting debt is genuine and properly alarming. The current US national debt (federal government) is now over 31 TRILLION. The entire economy of Germany, Europe’s greatest economy generates about 3.8 Trillion of economic activity each year. So, current US debt levels are so staggeringly high that they equal the economic output of 8 Germanys for one year. The US economy of course is bigger than Germany’s, being about 25 Trillion in GDP for all economic activities, including all goods and services. In other words, if you could feed the entire US population minimal food to sustain them, and have the US population work exclusively on trying to clear the federal debt, we could not succeed even with a full year’s worth of work. Our current debt is higher in real terms even then our debt after WWII, and much of the money has simply been wasted on far left boondoggles.

Amazingly, much of the current debt was accumulated by just a handful of “Big Spending” Presidents. After President’s Reagan and the Elder Bush, the national debt stood at about 4.4 Trillion. How the Hell did we get to over 31 Trillion in debt – a 7 fold increase? The biggest spender has been Obama, who added 8.6 Trillion to the national debt, although Biden has spending at an even higher rate in his first 2 years in office (4.8 Trillion). You might recall that Obama massively increased welfare rolls, eventually achieving the title of “Food Stamp King,” with nearly 45 million people on food stamps. He did this while cutting budgets for NASA and defense, because the central imperative for the federal government is to ply our already obese poor citizens with more low quality junk food. Maximizing fat people is much more important than saving the human race by colonizing space.

The next biggest spender is Donald Trump who added 7.5 Trillion. In his defense, unlike Biden who constantly claims credit for Trump’s achievements, much of Trump’s spending involved strengthening the military, securing the Southern Border, developing the Warp Speed Program to speed the rapid creation of several vaccines to the Covid virus, and to buy hundreds of millions of doses of the vaccines, which Biden later claimed credit for. But Trump was still a Big Spender. W Bush was also a Big Spender contributing 4 Trillion to the debt. But the biggest spend of all is certain to be President Biden, who has already spent almost 5 Trillion in just 2 years, a rate that would exceed even Obama’s financial malpractice. This is one reason it is so painfully comic to listen to Biden crow about reducing the deficit or gas prices or inflation while he is trying to slap another 10 Trillion of debt on the US taxpayers in his lying, inflation-causing excesses. These are your “Big Spenders.” Together these 4 men are responsible for over 25 Trillion of the national debt. They are among the reasons the US may fail economically, if the government does not stop acting like US taxpayers can be economically abused to any extent to pay for some of the dumbest policies and programs ever conceived by mankind. We would do much better if the US government would act more like our virtuous nuclear families who sit around the kitchen table trying to find ways to pay for their families in a climate where government officials will waste any amount of money on even the dumbest ideas imaginable.
